On the move: Welshman signs with Siena
SIGMA FC announced recently that another player from its squad has signed a letter of intent attend Siena University in Albany, New York on an athletic scholarship. Emery Welshman was one of SIGMA’s most sought after players in the 2009 graduating class.
SIGMA Technical Director, Bobby Smyrniotis says of Welshman: “It has been a privilege to have Emery at SIGMA over the past few years. When he came to us he was known in the age group as a quick striker capable of scoring goals. Leaving us in August he has become a total player. Emery has gained all the confidence in the world during his time at SIGMA and has learned to use his top qualities as a player at the right moments in the game. He can play as a target or peripheral striker and is equally efficient playing on the wing. He will definitely succeed at SIENA and beyond.”
On the move: Lucas Ferritto signs with Maine
Lucas Ferritto (1991) of the SIGMA FC A1 squad has accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Maine. Ferritto has been with SIGMA since it’s inception in 2005 and has matured into one of the top strikers in the region. His speed and quickness on and off the ball along with his efficient goal scoring ability is what has set Lucas apart over the years. Ferritto, a striker, scored three times while SIGMA FC toured Holland in 2007. He registered goals against PSV Eindhoven and in SIGMA FC’s win over AFC AJAX of Amsterdam.
